The General Practice Research Database (GPRD) is the world's largest database of anonymised longitudinal medical records from primary care linked with other datasets. Containing comprehensive observational data from real-life clinical practice, it provides analytical insight for a wide range of applications in clinical trials, drug safety, outcomes research, clinical epidemiology and genetic research.

See links for details of the available linkage data.

The database is managed by the GPRD Group within the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA  ), the UK's medicines and devices regulator. It is made available to customers via a secure online service or as datasets on CD-ROM. The GPRD is regularly updated at not less than 3 monthly intervals.
