GPRD has over 3.4 million active patient records and over 46 million patient years of data, providing a high level of detail over long time periods for all studies.
The sample population is large enough to inform pharmacovigilance plans for therapies targeting rare diseases, and the data covers the regional and socio-economic spectrum to ensure results accurately reflect the national situation.
The data available includes ADRs, co-prescription, co-morbidity, dosage details, off-label prescription, and patient demographics (age, sex etc.), allowing a wide range of drug-safety studies to be carried out to support pharmacovigilance departments in regulation, pharmaceutical industry and academia.
