Services - Verification Services
Data verification and follow-up is an additional service provided by the GPRD Group to assist researchers who require more detailed information on a selected group of patients identified in the GPRD. Researchers using the GPRD often need to verify that the computerised information they receive is a good representation of the actual medical events. Sometimes they need amplification of the details and seek this information via questionnaires and requests for anonymised patient hospital letters.
Undertaking a verification service requires the researcher to contact and effect this work through the GPRD Group to ensure that full confidentiality of the practices and patients is maintained. The GPRD Group charges a fee for undertaking this work, and will in turn pay the contributing doctor and practice for their time and efforts. The current fees for verification services are as follows:
Fees for services
Fees depend on the complexity of information requested. All questionnaires/requests to GPs are costed on the estimated time required to answer the specific questions at the current BMA rate. As a rough guide, for each response provided, GPs receive:

In addition, the GPRD Group Service fee of usually £30 per patient is charged. Requests for photocopies of complete written patient records may be subject to additional GPRD fees. Please contact admin@gprd.com for a formal quotation.
Services - GP Advisor
Thinking of using GPRD or developing a protocol for a study? Want to know more about the UK primary care system, the NHS or the data recording practices of GPs? Might these affect the feasibility or design of your study?
We are able to provide consultancy advice on such topics from practicing GPs. Any GPs providing consultancy advice on this basis will be both actively practising in the UK and contributing data to the GPRD.
This service is open to any GPRD user or prospective user. The fee is £140 per hour or £840 per day.
