The GOLD standard of healthcare data from primary care
The General Practice Research Database (GPRD) is the world's largest database of anonymised longitudinal medical records from primary care. Containing comprehensive observational data from real-life clinical practice, it provides analytical insight for a wide range of applications in clinical trials, drug safety, sales and marketing, portfolio management, outcomes research and clinical epidemiology.
The database is managed by the GPRD Group within the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the UK's medicines and devices regulator. It is made available to customers via a secure online service called Full Feature GPRD (FF-GPRD) or as datasets on CD-ROM. The GPRD is regularly updated so that the latest medical, prescribing and disease trends can be identified.
